The highlight of the last few weeks has definitely been Amy's gym competition, the Alex Strachan Cup in Reading. Since the end of last year's competition season she's moved up a level, so now competes at NAC level (which is National Aerobics Code I think!). This meant that she's no longer in a pair as her previous partner has now left the club. I was concerned about how she'd fit in, but she's been put in a trio and it's worked out brilliantly. The other two girls have been great, they've been at this level for over a year so are better and more experienced but Amy has worked hard and slotted in well. They won a silver medal for their routine, up against a more experienced and established trio from the same club- a fantastic start! The next competition is at the start of June, in Cardiff, but one of the trio can't make it, so Amy will be entered with the other girl as a pair. Bring it on!!

My weight loss 'journey' is continuing, I've now lost 20.5lbs, so I'm just 0.5lb short of a stone and a half lost since 17 December. I want to lose that amount again, but in the meantime, I'm very happy with how its going. I have a whole 'new' wardrobe now that so many things I bought then put away as they were too small finally fit. I actually went into Dorothy Perkins and bought a dress too! It's these small things that I've noticed that spur me on, and it helps that lots of other people are noticing too :-)
I had some news this week that selfishly made me feel quite sad, although it's undoubtedly good news for the person concerned! My knitting guru, Susie Johnson aka Susie Beans is moving away...a long way away in fact! She's been able to transfer her day-job to be with her boyfriend which is brilliant news for her, but (here comes the selfish part) it means knit club will be closing it's doors. It looks like this Saturday may even be the last one! Not only will I be losing my friend and guru, but I guess there's a chance we might not keep in touch as a group (although I hope not) and the Wool Sanctuary will be moving too. That means there will be no more Debbie Bliss and Rowan yarns within a 20 mile radius of my house!!! The website will still be running, but it won't quite be the same as selecting my colours then having Susie tell me they are completely wrong and replacing them with a much better combination...!
Here's what I've been making recently...
Knitted Red Nose corsage
The lacy snood- it has grown since this was taken
Knitting at the gym competition - 'Where's Wally?' hat 1 of 5!
I've had some amazing charity shop finds recently too, having been inpired by a book I read 'The Vintage Teacup Club'. Aren't they gorgeous?
My first purchase, all for £5.00!
My second purchase, all for £7.00!!
On display in my kitchen cabinet!

I think Howard might just continue snoozing until the summer though...
Finally, Good-bye Susie Beans, I'm going to miss you....Good luck for the future xx
